We moved into the Manse today. It is a charming English home. I will take some pictures in the daylight and post them on the England page of this site. Across from the Manse is the Black Combe (small mountain). It is speckled by sheep and divided by thousand year old stone fences. The clouds lay across the peak most of the day. What a beautiful thing to have out our front door.
Daylight is something we are missing here right now. The sun comes up about 8:30 and sets about 4:00. We look forward to the days getting longer as Spring approaches. The weather has been pretty good. There is little difference in temperature from day to night. It usually ranges in the forties. The sun shows itself for a short time and there is always a breeze. The wind must be a constant as large wind turbines dot the landscape in our area and into Scotland.
Today started with 'Coffee Morning' and moved into 'Mums and Tots.' Coffee morning is a gathering that happens every Tuesday at 10:00. About 15 of the older folks come out for coffee, tea, biscuits (cookies), skoans (biscuits), and lots of laughs. The British people we have met love to laugh and give each other a hard time. Kind of like Henderson Baptist Church. Mums and Tots is for young mothers and their toddlers. They get together each Tuesday afternoon so their little ones can play together. The church keeps a lot of toys for them. Today we played with April, a cute little red head, and her older sister, Evie.
We're looking forward to tomorrow evening as we are going carolling around the village of Bootle. I'll let you know if they chase me out of the choir.
